How to transport your equipment safely

What this module covers

  • Put the grinder in transport position before loading.
  • Remove the diamond disc and store it separately.
  • Secure the power cord and fold the handle down if the model allows it.
  • Use two people or a proper ramp — never drag the machine.
  • Roll the grinder slowly and keep control on the ramp.
  • Tie it down with rated ratchet straps at the front and rear.
  • Strap to the frame, not the handle or power cord.
  • Unload carefully onto level ground before setting up.

Your Pre-Start checklist

What this module covers

  • Inspect the chassis, frame, handle, and electrical cabinet before use.
  • Check the full power cable for cuts, fraying, crushing, or exposed insulation.
  • Make sure the plug is clean and the grinder switch is OFF before connecting power.
  • Inspect the disc and segments for cracks, chips, missing pieces, or loose tooling.
  • Check the dust skirt is intact and sitting flush to the floor.
  • Check the extractor filter indicator, collection bag, hose, and hose ends.
  • Clear screws, nails, debris, and bystanders from the grinding zone.
  • If anything fails the check, stop and contact Anytime Grinder Hire before use.

How to use your equipment

What this module covers

  • Start in a corner or edge so you can work in organised passes.
  • Set the handle to a comfortable working height.
  • Lower the head until the dust skirt sits flush to the floor.
  • Connect the suction hose from the grinder to the dust extractor.
  • Put PPE on first, then start the dust extractor, then start the grinder.
  • Wait for the disc to reach full speed before lowering it onto the floor.
  • Move at a steady walking pace with overlapping passes.
  • Watch the extractor and stop if the filter alert triggers.
  • To finish, raise the head, stop the grinder, wait for the disc to stop, then unplug both units.
  • Let tooling cool before touching it and wipe equipment down after use.

Personal Protective Equipment

What this module covers

  • Concrete grinding creates respirable crystalline silica dust.
  • Use a P2-rated half-face respirator as the minimum standard.
  • Make sure the respirator seals properly — facial hair can stop it working.
  • Use a powered air-purifying respirator if you cannot get a proper seal.
  • Wear Class 4 or Class 5 hearing protection every time.
  • Wear safety glasses with side shields; add a face shield for aggressive grinding.
  • Wear steel-capped boots, long pants, long sleeves, and heavy-duty grip gloves.
  • Use gloves when touching tooling after grinding — diamond segments get hot.
  • Do not shake dusty clothing; dampen and bag it before taking it home.
  • Use dust extraction and PPE together — they are one safety system.
